The Spaces
The Farm Space
A life long love of the property owners, farming is something to be shared with others. The children are fortunate to work with chickens, turkeys, cows, goats, and pigs on the farm. They learn how to feed, water, care, observe and respect the lovely animals on the farm. The kids also learn the cycle of life, as this farm raises many of the animals for food - understanding where your food comes from and how to provide a kind and natural environment for these animals to live their life. The kids participate in gardening as well - helping with the prep, planting, care and harvesting of fruits and vegetables, as well as ‘putting the garden to rest’ for the winter.
The Forest Space
The Forest Space holds so many wonders for the children. It houses our beautiful tent with a woodstove for the colder months. The children worked to create the firepit area, stack wood for the winter, clear the space of branches, etc. A favorite spot for all kids is the dirt kitchen where imaginary play abounds. Surrounded by the crooked pines we named the school after, this space perfectly embodies the spirit of our program in fostering experiential learning. The outdoor and indoors spaces allow for perfect areas of learning.
